At Becka Makes Buttons, we believe in giving back to our community and investing in the future. The Rad Youth Internship Program, which started in 2021 in partnership with Home Youth Services – The Y.E.P. program (a faction of Community Action), has been an incredible success. In 2022, we continued this initiative by partnering with the Chemeketa WORKS program connected to CTEC.
This program provides youth aged 14-18 with a three-month internship, offering a clear set of goals designed to teach 21st-century job skills. With our new location, we’re excited to expand this initiative into a two-year program for youth aged 14-25. Partnering with the nonprofit Radness Ensues, we aim to offer even more opportunities for young people to gain valuable experience and skills. Applications for the program will be open soon, with a goal to launch before the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
Becka has served on ROCC Board since 2022 and with the Keizer Public Arts Commission since 2024. She is a founder of many community projects throughout the PNW including Punx with Purpose/Punx in the Park Co-Founder from 2022-2023, Punk Rock Baseball/Punx in the Woods from 2006-2011, and The Industry of Sound/TIOS Tacoma 2006-2008. Along with founding many projects she has served in various community organizations such as the Carbonado Booster Club from 2016-2021 . Recently Becka founded her own Non-Profit Radness Ensues and currently sits as the Board President.
As a preferred vendor and registered volunteer for Salem-Keizer Public Schools, Becka Makes Buttons bring hands-on creative learning to your classroom!
